Hi 6flee3, some people should never work on vehicles, your best bet is to find one in pick/pull, go in with a saws all and lots of batteries and cut one out, have`nt been to any yards lately but some here have, they might chime in. We have about twenty here on this site from Sac area.

Thanks, this truck should have been a low hump? Don't think you need to change the hump for a 350 install ...?

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

I have a low hump with a the 350, no issues. There is an ad on CL for a c60 parting out but I think they were all high humps, so my next best idea would be to run thru the local pik and pull yards.

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

Could of had a 700r4 at one time my old 65 came with one in it and one of the P.O. did the same thing to the hump to make it fit...it was a burnt up 700r4 when i got the truck so i ended up swapping a th350 in since the trannys are only about a 1/4 to 3/8 diffrence in length so you dont have to have a drivline made....most likely the same swap out has happened with your truck.

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

I've got a similar problem. PO installed a floor shifter with a TH400. The only thing is they put bucket seats in and have the shifter between the seats so it doesn't look terrible. I'm still pulling it all out for a column shift. I have a low hump but will have to go to high hump for my air bag setup. Hopefully there will be some of these sections left to be found out there.

Need to correct myself ...a th350 with a 9inch tail-shaft is almost the same in length as a 700r4 trans.

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

Hi Tim, even if they had installed a 700r4, the only interferrance will be from the lower body seam at the firewall, by removing the lip 6 inches... three either side from center and welding in the seam allows install with no further mods other than trans mount.

that is true except that on mine they had a floor shifter on the 700r4 and needed more clearance between the top of trans and the hump...kinda looked like what the o.p has going on in his picture..

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

I often ask that about what the PO was thinking on my truck. Someone cut a 6 x 18" hole in the trans tunnel apparently to put in a floor shifter. It wouldn't be too bad other than the 35 screw holes they put thru the original floor to hold another piece of sheetmetal after they realized they cut the hole in the wrong place. Looks like they used a 42" axe to cut the hole with. Now I"m in search of a trans tunnel. Idiot.

Re: What was the PO thinking ... ?

Don`t feel bad cause you`re not alone, mine looked like it had several trans in it been cut more than once, at least the last one had cut the metal to fit and used about twenty pop rivets with sealer, I picked up some 18 gauge cold rolled steel to replace it with, plus when I had taken the left door apart to replace the window crank mechanism the po had taken a torch to the inside of the door to get the mechanism out the first time, I have picked up a set of bad doors(free) for the replacement sheet metal they had cut out of both doors
