Triple horn factory option?

Several years ago I bought a 68 C20 Custom Camper that was loaded for a parts vehicle. I stripped a bunch of parts off of it and then junked it. One of the things it had on it was a triple horn set up that appeared to be factory. Over the years I scavenged a couple of horns off of it. Here are a few photos. You can see where the other two horns were mounted. I can't remember whether it was mounted on the core support or the bottom front of the inner fender (DS). It appears the slant would fit the core support. Anyone ever see one of these?

Re: Triple horn factory option?

I did not know that trucks came with the triple horn as an option, interesting!

I have the triple horn option on my 66 SS Impala and it has an entirely different sound from the two horn version.

It must be a rare option on the trucks as it is pretty rare to find on the cars.

Re: Triple horn factory option?

Cadillacs often came with tripple horns and the mid-late 80's Devilles had two in each front fender. 76 Sevilles had a triple set with a relay under the right front fender that sound pretty good.

Re: Triple horn factory option?

I have seen a couple of trucks that had the extra horns (more than two) but assumed they were simply added by the dealer or a previous owner. Chip flyer would be the person to check with on the actuallity of a option for this.

Re: Triple horn factory option?

The only thing I have ever seen is the option code for dual horn, pretty sure its not a factory 67-72 chevy truck option but anxious to see if others have seen or heard of it.

Re: Triple horn factory option?

I knew a guy once that work at the truck plant in Flint Mi, he said sometime the guy installing horns felt like puting one, sometimes he felt like puting two, and if he was really bored he would throw an extra one on. May not be a factory option, but maybe the assembly worker was bored that day.
