Re: Rear differntial code?

The HB is 3.08 ratio. Not sure about the other characters.

Re: Rear differntial code?

Info from p. 85 Chevrolet Truck Parts Catalog for 1946-1972 Series 10-30, September 1972

The four digit number following the type designation will designate the calendar month and date produced.

So 03 29 is March 29.

Plant designation is to be stamped immediately following the production date. "B" Buffalo Plant, "G" Gear and Axle Plant, and "W" Warren Plant.

So the W is for Warren Plant, 1 for first shift.

Seems like there should be a year designation somewhere but I can't find any info on that . Maybe the last two digits are week of month and year, but that's just a guess. My '69 has code JU 09 28 G2 (4.10 no posi, September 28, Gear and Axle Plant, 2nd shift).
