Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

I was pretty productive over the weekend. Touched up some badges with new paint and restored the bowtie on my grille. Today the weather was crap but I got out there and cleaned up my wheels (they needed it bad) anyways. Just little things.

Thats cool, looks just like the material used on late 70s T/As dash panels.

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

Got the floor supports, floor panels, and rocker panels welded in place sat...

Then cleaned up few welds and stripped it down and coated them in Krylon Rust Tough

Used some seam sealer on the rocker connections and underbody and then 3m rubberized undercoating...Def need more for the rest of the underside

Then went to replace the Speedometer gear housing and managed to push the gear all the way in damnit all...ERG

Not much other that driving it.

I did add a new accessory, although I wonder if all this HP I gained from getting more air (big deep filter) in just means more oil going out the back. :

The engine swap should happen in a month or so when soccer slows down.

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

Wet and cold here this weekend, played in the garage, watched some Barrett-Jackson, took a couple naps.

I'll cheat a little on the weekend time frame and include last week. Fellow board member "Slugish" called me and was in town on business. We were able to meet up, have a meal, talk trucks and look over my 50.

I'm ready for summer!

Found some door panels on C-list for $20.00. They made a big difference.

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

On Saturday managed to go on a test - tuning drive. New engine requires less fuel to run, but it does has more power. Nice surprise, but it is so tough to resist mashing the loud paddle!

On Sunday went to local JY and found a complete heater assembly - controls from '78. I managed to remove the box without damage, but mounting bolts with retention clips did not survive. Oh well.

Top View - plenty of dust straight from JY

Yes, JY heater core outlet ports are gone.

Due to leaks my heater core flapper doors are frozen and stuck in one position. Need to clean this unit, find replacement bolts and flapper dampening material. New heater core is ready to drop in after cleaning.

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

Finished my front end rebuild, all ball joints, bushings, pitman arm, idlerarm, brakes and brake lines. It looks tidy under there now.
I all so installed the front swaybar I ordered from Brothers, that was a pain. Nothing in the kit really bolted up like it was supposed to. But I got it in after a bit of thinkering, it will be interessting to see if the rear bar has the same problems.
Got a call from the exhaust workshop on Saturday, my new dual system is ready so I will be picking it up this week.
Im stressing out about geting the truck ready, I will loose my workshop space in 6 weeks, so I really need to get this thing back on the road.

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

Was bored to tears saturday, so I repainted my headlight bezels and had such a good time with that, I decided to "smoke" my front turn signals too...looks pretty good I think, as long as ya dont look too close, lol
Also got some sweet pictures of the family stable, as it were...my '79, my dad's '84 C30, and my little sister's '86 K10...
And managed to convince my girlfriend to let me take her new Durango out to play in the mud, scared the piss out of her the whole time, it was great

Re: What did you get done 1/22/12 edition

I was thinking about having my electric fuel pump replaced, so I took the bed bolt nuts off the 87. Then I put the nuts back on. The Chevy. dealer said it would cost more money if they had trouble with rusty nuts and bolts.
