Truck Won't Start...
If my battery is full and the connections to the battery are tight, how come I have no power to even run the dome light? Would it be a fuse or just bad Wiring? Anyone know what might the problem be? It was running like like 5 minutes before I discovered it wounldn't turn back over?
Any help would be appreicated, I'm no electrican or mechanic for that matter but am courious if I can fix this myself. Thanks Brian

first off please take off the connections and clean the connections it is possible that you have no current between the battery and the terminals.
second disconnect the ground strap from the fender well or where ever it is grounded to and clean this connection too make sure there are grounds between the motor and the chassis then i want you to disconnect the positive cable if still no juice and make sure the positive wire is good where it connects to the starter make sure the connection is clean and tight if this doenst help let me know and ill take it a step or two further

If you have after market replacement battery cable ends that clamp on to the cable, make sure that those connections are clean, not just tight.

If it was cranking ok before, and now you have absolutely no power, then it's very likely the fuse between the battery and the junction post on the inside of the passenger fender. Check it out and replace with a 30 amp fuse and it will start. But then you have to go back and figure out what's causing that fuse to blow. Often it's a bad regulator. Hope this helps.

This happened to me one time on my 75 and it was because the positive terminal on my starter was loose.
I haven't studied the diagram for this generation of trucks, but in '75, the power connection to the rest of the truck takes place at that lug. Good luck, Brian |

Check the starter bolts. If they are tight, loosen them and retighten. I've had this problem before.
