BBC Valve Question?

Can the valves not being adjusted correctly on a BBC 454 make it act like it's running on 7 1/2 cylinders? It seems no matter what adjustments I make to the Quadrajet, timing and/or valves it still acts like 7 1/2 cylinders. The reason I say 7 1/2 is because it still idles and runs ok it just acts like it's got a slight miss! Anyone with knowledge on this?

Re: BBC Valve Question?

Valves will have an effect if they are seriously out of adjustment. There is usually some give with hydraulic lifter engines though. It can't hurt to perform a quick valve job though just to be sure.

I'd run a compression and leakdown test before I would yank the heads.
