Front End Question

I have a 1970 CST that has been converted to 5 lug discs in the front and 5 lug drums in the back. What is the easiest/best way to tell what year front end it is? Looking to replace suspension and steering parts. Thanks in advance.

Re: Front End Question

What parts are you looking to replace?
The 5 lug could be from a 71-72 or could even be from a 73-87? When using the 73 and up suspension you will find that the upper and lower control arm bushings are rubber.
Some clues to look for are... look at the upper control arms and if they are all steel screw on end caps then you most likely have 71-72
Also look for the disc brake rotor thickness 71-72 are 1.25 in late models are 1 in thick
These are just some clues, you may end up taking off tie rod ends to be for sure
Im sure some of the other guys will chime in and will have more info for you also
Here is a thread that will give you the answers you seek http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=444823
Good luck

Re: Front End Question

Chevytruckluver,
Thanks, great information. I believe the front suspension has original parts so I would like to replace tie rods, bad joints, etc.
