Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
Great commercial! its the truth too! I was with my dad when he bought his 1970 chevy 3/4 ton fully loaded truck (he let me pick out the color, hugger orange & white) We had many great father/son talks in that truck! The vid got me a little misty! Thinking of those times with dad. Thats why my avatar truck is orange as a tribute to my dad. RIP Paddy. cheers, Pat

Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
All of the Chevy runs deep ads are great. I think its the best marketing style of any auto maker currently.
Just compare these commercials to the Nissan Frontier commercials where they show the truck driven down a snowy mountain hitting a jump and doing a barrel roll or show a plane without landing gear on the front coming down and resting in the bed of the truck, yep those are some really good representive ads on Nissans part... |

I really like this a lot.... Watched a few of the others that were submitted and didn't see any that could hold a candle to this one.

Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
Boy I don't know. Someone needs to post that one where the says the customer's truck is too far gone and he should just get a new one. Basically, the guy turns him down to keep his 67-72 (can't remember what year). That's a great commercial.

Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
Superb commercials, all of them..!!
They make me think of an article I read in a U.K car magazine that's been running since the late 70's called "Classic American", the article was all about how it seemed that Americans had lost their long running love affair with the automobile, remembering a time of how what you drove spoke volumes of who you were, and the freedom that the gave ordinary Americans to explore their vast & beautiful country. Because, as he parked the 67 GTO he was driving in the lot of some large shopping center, he remarked how the lot looked like a sea of beige, characterless & bland vehicles, were even the once great names like Chevy or Buick ETC, could barley be distinguished from the Toyota's and Mitsubishi's. Anywho...my point after that ramble, is that these ads seem to tell a different story, and make me feel that perhaps Americans are regaining their love, or that it was never lost at all...I hope so.

Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
I try not to think of it as a 'conspiracy', but we have developed probably now at least a second generation that sees cars as a necessary 'evil'. Bad for the environment, a waste of resources, etc... while forgetting what flexible transportation did for economic development.
Not to mention the rise of 'practicality', which took a lot of the soul out of vehicles. A car is now just a utensil, like a toaster. It looks similar and will also plug into a wall socket in your garage. |

Re: Superbowl Chevy commercial
Could this be the "evil one" having success in the wussification of the average man? When my wife and I first met 6 years ago, she said she was looking for a stand-up guy. Someone that wore flannel from time to time. Smelled like grease from time to time. His favorite pants were his Carhartt's. He didn't tweeze his eyebrows and had no problem getting into someone's face when they needed it. This kind of guy's car does not plug into any wall and he doesn't sit with his legs crossed like Matt Lauer. Scary thing is that wussies breed wussies. My son at almost 4 can take anything off the floor and turn it into a gun or a sword. I just hope we are not loosing the battle!
Sorry.....don't know where that came from. |
