73-80 cowl pics

I need pics of 73-80 firewall cowl area. I'd like to see what they look like with out the front end on. I'm going to be putting a 73-80 front end on my 84, and want to see what I can weld up, to make it look cleaner.

Re: 73-80 cowl pics

Thanks guys both your pics are a help. I'm really interested in the cowl area, where the hinges and wipers are located to see the differences are between the 73-80's and 81-87's

Re: 73-80 cowl pics

If I remember correctly, the only difference in the wipers are ours (81-87) have the longer nubs that the wipers connect to since they extend outside of the cowl panel. The earlier years are shorter as seen in the pic above. Hinges bolt to the fenders on the earlier years as well so you wont have to change much. Just ditch the cowl, get the shorter wiper studs. Someone correct me if Im wrong but thats what its lookin like. I ditched the stock firewall because mine was rotten, Im at mid build on my new one.

Re: 73-80 cowl pics

I'll take better pics tomorrow. I have to do the opposite. I'm putting a 91 front clip on my 76. It sure is easier doing the opposite.

Re: 73-80 cowl pics

I'm using a 84 cab on my 76, so far this what I've run into. Hood hinges mount to fenders in 76, wiper studs are shorter since the hood and cowl are combined in 76, let me know if you can't find a setup. Engine bay wiring is a little different, there is more than what you need(probably). Interior wiring hasn't really posed a problem, although I'll say I'm not completely done with that. Printed circut on guage cluster has more than I need. Front and rear wiring are the same. If and when you buy parts remember what year for what part.... I'm no expert, this is just what I've dealt with.

Re: 73-80 cowl pics

Thanks guys, those pics are a big help. Motornut, your pic especially. The part I was really concerned about was the area around the 81-87 hinge. I wasn't sure if that was there on the 73-80, and wanted to see what it looked like. Keep'em coming guys, this is handy info to know.
