Good replacement for Rochester

The 350 I just put in needs a new carb..the rochesterm 4 barrel is getting pretty loose.....Edelbrock? and which model?

Personally, I'd get another quadrajet. They are much more efficient when tuned correctly, and you'll pay about the same amount as an Edelbrock

Edelbrock's are pretty simple on tuning not much involved and dont have power valves to worry about blowin out.....if its a stock 350 id suggest just a 600-650 cfm...they are pretty much a bolt on and go......

i have a older stock cast iron intake that i had to use a adapter to allow the wide set of butterflys on the bottom of the carb to open all the way...depending on your intake this may not be a issue

I think you’ll find three basic opinions:

Rochesters are fantastically efficient if you have the experience and enthusiasm to dial one in.

Holleys are the best performance carbs ever made, and have more adjustability than anything else.

Carter AFB/Edelbrock carbs are simple, foolproof, never leak and need almost no attention after initial set up.

Beyond that it really comes down to personal preference. I’ve owned all three at various times, and they do indeed have unique personalities. For the last 30+ years I’ve stuck with the Edelbrock carbs. I’m lazy and find they work just fine needing very little attention beyond a good cleaning with carb spray every few years.

I have had an Edelbrock on my 327 Camaro for 6 years, electric choke, 650cfm. Worked perfect out of the box and have never touched anything but the idle mixture and idle speed screw.
