Power tool parts

Hey gang,I just pulled down my "Orbital Sander" a while ago.The platen or base of it is in sad shape.I think it's a B&D so I went to their site. They will sell me a new one but this one works perfect except for the base.Labels and all are missing from this so I'm having trouble identifying it.I know it's a long shot but thought someone might know of a site that could help figure it out so i can fix it.It's pretty old so I may wind up replacing it but prefer the fix.I bought it about 20 years ago so I know it's got some age to it,especially since I bought it used.In fact it's so old that the whole thing is made of metal.I am pretty sure it's a B&D or maybe a Craftsman.

Re: Power tool parts

Wow, I thought I was the only one who trys to have a good, decent tool repaired instead of trashing it and buying one from China. Good luck in your search, don't have any ideas to help but wish you the best in your endeavors.

Re: Power tool parts

I've bought parts from ereplacement, ToolPartsDirect.com, Partstree.com, and a couple others I can't remember. I try to keep all my tools in good condition, I buy a good bit of used stuff, when I need parts I just google "(tool brand) replacement parts", I've found you can get nearly anything. Most , if not all, the sites have exploded drawings and such, looks like all ya gotta do now is identify the maker and model number. Good luck with that! Post a pic, maybe someone here has one like it............

Yeah-I like ereplacement because it's down in the Salt Lake Valley and actually has a storefront. It's handy for me, living in Utah. Save on shipping, but pay sales tax. Probably works out about the same, I guess

Re: Power tool parts

I'm thinking I'll try fixing it.The sander works well and I have used the crap out of it.I probably can replace the screws and repad it.I also need to rebush the clamp on one end.I'm planning on tearing into it and figuring it out. They're not expensive to replace but the one I have will probably outlast a new one if fixed.
