drive shaft length
hay guys my 87 swb had a over drive with a 305. i put in a built 350 with t350 trans and my drive shaft is to short. my buddie keeps tellin me a long bed shaft would work but i dont think so. any one ever had this issue and how hard will it be to find one that will fit?

Re: drive shaft length
Yes, I believe when I did it, my shaft was 3" too short. I took it to a local driveline shop and had 3" lengthened. Parts & labor and balance was 300.00 ( that was last month ).

Re: drive shaft length
you have a short tail shaft TH350 and need a long tail shaft. you should be abour 4" to short , a long bed truck shaft will be over a foot longer.
not sure what's involve'd in swap'n tail shaft's, but one option is to get the Long bed shaft and have a transmission shop short'n it to the right length .

Re: drive shaft length
If the length works don't forget you will need a conversion u joint to work with your 10 bolt
