HELP with electric choke
Hey all, I just installed a Holley 600cfm carb, and need to know where the + lead on the choke should be getting power from. the guy I got the carb from said "run it off the + side of the coil cuz it's the closest hot lead to the carb" is this o.k. or should I find a better/safer hot lead? Where do you guys hook it up to?
Thanks in advance.

Re: HELP with electric choke
I've heard not to run it from the coil or alternator. Find a keyed ignition circuit that gives you 12vdc when key is on and zero volts when off.

Re: HELP with electric choke
I run mine off the coil. It doesn't draw much current.
Someone else might have an idea why it's better to run it off another circuit, but I can't think of one. |

Re: HELP with electric choke
On mine I run a wire from the choke back into the fuse box. (something that is only hot when the key is on)

Re: HELP with electric choke
Fuse box is good, wiper motor is another source, as others mentioned, hot ONLY w/ key on...
Make sure carb is grounded to intake, and intake grounded to body, body to frame. Can't have enough grounds. |
