Think he took the cover off and tried to cut something with his timing chain?

Ah, of course! Rivet in a few hardened steel teeth and you're all set! It would have quite a kerf to it, but it would work for cutting firewood.

Then I suppose he damaged his leaf mounts because he was using them as kickback preventers?

:p

sorry to take the mystry out of this but i just took a corner to fast and ate a dug fir the winch, front clip, left frame horn, left front leaf mount, radiator, fan, alternator and stoped just about 1\4in from the block. the truck stop and rested on a 45 with the passenger side door pinned in the mud. we back up in to a pasture, took a 2ton cumalong, ripen off all of the damage, straitened out the tie rod and clutch linkage and nursed the beast home on a gellcell.(those things are of the best investments for any vehicle). i have finished most of the new sub frame and way over built mad max front end cage replacing the stock radiator with aluminium. our shop is not yet complete so the beast has a some what water proof home under a tarp city. the left front leaf mount is cracked in two places. just under the frame and just above the frame. the cracks are about 1in wide and 2in long. any thing i replace the leaf mounts with will ba a definit up grade. any susgestions would be a great help
thanks
oh yeah she was a 71k20 with 6in sus and 3in body lift
