87 Silverado LS1 conversion
I need some info on my project. I have an 87 half ton with a 305 Tbi and I have got a wrecked 2000 model Z28 with a 5.7 LS1 and 4L60E. I am planning to put the LS1 in my truck but would like to keep my dual gas tanks. Would an inline fuel pump be ok? Does any one make a kit to convert the speedo from electronic to a cable? What is the best way to do the motor mounts? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Re: 87 Silverado LS1 conversion
If started a new project, I would drop in a LS engine too.
Check out this 77 conversion to a 5.3 LS. http://www.hotrodlane.cc/77chevytruck/77chevy.htm With a little programming, the 5.3 can reach full stock potential. How to overcome the A/C hose compressor: http://www.maliburacing.com/forum/vi...hp?=34&t=79059 You can find a harness and other conversion parts here: http://www.currentperformance.com/Complete.html |

Re: 87 Silverado LS1 conversion
Google Abbott Cable X for VSS to Mechanical speedometer.
An inline fuel pump can be mounted just after the Pollack valve on the passenger side frame rail. I'd install pre-TBI senders in both tanks. You will need to run new power wiring for the new fuel pump. The power wires for the TBI in tank pumps change polarity based on the tank switch position. The LS1 PCM has a "fuel pump request" signal to properly drive a fuel pump relay. |
