81 Bench Seat Replacement
Have an 81 Chev 4x4 and found a rear seat out of (I believe it's 98-02ish) full size 4 door. The seat is mint and was wondering if anyone has set up a rear seat with runners to fit in the front. It's a full size seat so would suit perfect. These are a couple pics of it. Any info would be great. Thanks

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
I don't see why you couldn't do it. You'll have to use your 81 sliders for sure though, The brackets under that seat will put your head in the roof.

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
Actually the arent too bad. But they'll be cut down and sliders welded on. The $35 it's costing me for this I can't complain about, lol.

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
mock up the stock 81 sliders before you cut up the new seat brackets. I have a bench from that body style in my 76 and my old brackets practically bolted up. I think I oblonged two holes and used a couple spacers to lean the seat back to where it felt right.

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
Right on... good to hear. I thought or hoped there may be a chance the width would be close. Thanks again for the help. Any pics of this swap you did? Thanks

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
Exactly what I was thinking. For that price worth a shot. Considering to get my original seat recovered is $250.00.

Re: 81 Bench Seat Replacement
The width of the seat back is spot on. The factory 73-87 seats were a bit wider on the seat bottom but I don't notice it while driving and it doesn't look out of place. I'll have to get some pics up. Mine was from one of the first years of the new body style probably somewhere in the 88-90 range.

I have my eye on those seatbelts. They look like they may bolt up too
