1983 Chevy K20 P/U Reverse Light Problems
I have a 1983 Chevy K20 P/U with manual transmission (3 speed with granny low) and the reverse lights don't work. I checked the bulbs and fuse and they were fine. Is there a position switch and if so where? I need to get this beast inspected, but don't know where to look!

Re: 1983 Chevy K20 P/U Reverse Light Problems
On my 83 1 ton with the manual tranny the sensor was on the passengers side of tranny near the top by the shifter. I believe the wire was a lime color, or lime color with a blue stripe. You should be able to see it come out of the firewall near the steering column and then travels along the firewall towards the motor.
I had to replace my sensor because it is in an area that attracts mud and crud and isn't easily cleaned even with a power washer. Hope this helps, Ken |

Re: 1983 Chevy K20 P/U Reverse Light Problems
I had a similar problem when I had that type of trans in my 85 burb. I discovered if I moved the shifter to one side it would get the lights to come on. I figured roller/button on the switch was worn out.
