half tops....do they really exist

I have seen these and seen some posts about maybe someone remaking them but does anyone know if and when this might ever happen?

Re: half tops....do they really exist

Check out http://www.myrodshop.com/blazer.html. I don't know if anyone on the board has bought one but this guy has had his site up for several years. There was one other company making them, but they shut down a few years back.

It's a very limited market. There were around 80,000 first gen blazer produced. If you consider how many have met their demise in one way or another and how many owners (like me) aren't really interested in a half top, and those that want/have origin tops, that doesn't leave much of a market for selling the tops.

Congratulations on your purchase, I am glad someone is going to move forward on this. There are people (like me) that are interested in one!

Re: half tops....do they really exist

since blazers use the same heater as reg cab pickups the half top would be nice in the winter due to the reduces cubic feet

You could get a rear seat heater from a suburban.

Half top would be cool for the right price. I like the look of a short truck with a clean tonneau cover in the back.

COOLING is more important to me down in 'ol sunny FLORIDY. I've had the top off the Blazer since I bought it in Oct. BIG FUN so far but Summer's coming! I pretty much only drove the Jimmy(top off) evenings before I got the Blazer. My skin Dr. keeps freezing and carving pieces off of me as a result of playing/working in the sun.

Soft top works too - and it folds down so you can put it up in a heart beat, not have to lift anything heavy or find a place to carry cut down top when you're out driving.

Re: half tops....do they really exist

I got one of these back in the 80s and have it stashed back for my future jimmy 68 front clip project, they are nice and light I can load on and off myself. they come with
steel bulkhead that has 2 drawers that run the lenght of the bulkhead. the bulkhead bolts in and has rubber seal and seals for windows and front above windshield. I dont know about the ones listed on that web page but it looks close to mine. I can post some photos if anyone would like to see the top and bulkhead.

Looks like they're just bare shells. For that much I'd at least expect glass or a bulkhead.
