Is non metallic grey a 1961 GMC original color?

I've wondered about the original color of my 1961 GMC Suburban. It is a light to medium non metallic grey, and I always thought it was repainted to this when the front was damaged and a later hood was put on. I have seen other Suburbans that are a similar grey, but I haven't seen this color on swatches of 1961 GMC colors. I haven't seen pickups this color, only Suburbans.

Pearl Gray, available in 61 was a carryover from 60. It is non-metallic, but I believe the "Pearl" in the name is just name only, they didn't spray pearls at the factory. Anyhoo, it is not metallic. Ditzler/PPG paint code = 32035 / Dupont paint code = 93-76416. Btw, the below website is the BEST paint cross reference site I've ever used. If you go back to the main page (In the links below, the search is narrowed to 1961 and truck), you can find just about anything. And the selectable links under the summary pages expand into the actual paint chip pages you'd find at a paint shop. Very helpful.
Anyway, hope that answers your question.

Btw, here's the home page where you can start a search for pretty much any vehicle http://paintref.com/paintref/index.shtml

I thought Pearl Gray was metallic. It would surprise me if it is not metallic since this color is used on cars too. Nobody wants a gray car. It is surprising how little paint info in available on the internet.

Pearl is not metallic. Also, if you check the rest of the paint codes that year, all the metallic ones actually have "metallic" in the name. In later years (early 70's) the metallic nomenclature was changed to "poly". Anyway - pretty much anything you'd want to know about a paint code or what came in what years from the factory is in the links above.
