custom bed mount

hey guys im looking for a way to mount a wrecker bed on to my 85 k35
but the underside of the bed if straigh flat and the trucks frame as 2 lower point . have any of you ever came with a good idea while not using wooden block?

I would get steel tubing or something to put on there....the wrecker slings we used to put in these trucks had holes that lined up with the bed holes on the frame and were mounted that way.. now everyting ive used in thepast decade has been snatch and grab or wheel lift

ah kinda see what your talking about i also tough about welding a c-chanel on to the frame cut in haft to fallow the frame lines but im not so sure about parmanent frame modification

this is the kind of bed im talking about picture from ebay the other kind we used were the sling type with the hydraulic pump that mount in the same way but do not have the tailgate and the bed is cut ant an angle so the car or towed vehicle doesnt hit the bed ends

my bed is already a full type sling wrecker and the wheel lift is an add on, the bed is already mounted to a c-30 but using wood block spacer and it made the frame rot in those area thats why i wanted an alternate way to fill those gap using steel.

gotcha.. id get steel tubing then... Metal Supermarkets is in the US not sure about Canada but if you give them the specs for what you need they can figure out a way to get it for you

yeah i think square tubing that fallows the frame would be a better idead so i could always be removed if plans change in the futur ill take my measurement thank you

Another thing I wish I had taken pics of when I did it.

I cut treated 4x4 for the filler when I mounted my 110"Lx96"W bed on my 79 K30. I used a 3/8" thick section over the axle. I put about a half ton on the bed and then fastened it tight to the truck with channel on the side. Never had any problems.

the wood'n blocks are are pretty standard, if you make it to rigid somethen's gonna break.
if you choose the steel method, dont weld it to the truck, do all the weld'n on the bed itself.

i just recall having 2 16 foot long 4x4 14 inch wall square tubing might be a good start
welding to the frame was my last option . id rather only bolt it to the frame and let sit the bed on it.
