Body Part Compatibility Questions

Ok I have a 78 GMC C15 and Im going to Pull -A-Part tomorrow to grab more stuff... I was there today and they have tons of Chevy C15 trucks but my question is what model have the same body parts???

C15/K15 Duallys?

Im looking at front fenders, inner fenders, doors, seats, dash, and such

I actually found a nice fender on a 79 but it doesnt have the trim...Is that just adhesive installed or pop riverts???

I would of had the fender but i couldnt get it due to lack of sockets that my bro forgot...

Thanks guys

Re: Body Part Compatibility Questions

Correct. The dash is the same 78-80 but can be swamped for any 73-91. The fender trim is bolted on from the back side and a few screws up front. All body panels will swap fairly easily 73-91.

Re: Body Part Compatibility Questions

you cant use 81-87 front clips on 73-80 cabs. the hood hinges are different. the hinge itself is in the cab on the 81-87s.

Please dont destroy another round eye with a 81-87/91 conversion.

Re: Body Part Compatibility Questions

Sheet metal is all the same 73-80, there was a slight difference in the doors somewhere in the mid 70's, but they all work and fit. The dash pads will be different, some had VIN holes and some did not and in the 81 up the instrument bezel is a bit different etc.

Re: Body Part Compatibility Questions

Suggestion....take a few random pics of your square with your phone. Front view, side view, top view, etc. While you're running around like crazy jumping from one donor to the next double check your pics to make sure that's what you need/want. Minor things like the gauge cluster bezel, vin number placement have changed over the years. Even though 73-87 are somewhat compatible, don't grab what you can't use...unless you wanna give it to us on charity/tax write-off =]

Re: Body Part Compatibility Questions

my 78 jimmy vin not on dash,in door(no hole)
79 jimmy in dash

the ebrake don't seem to have been wired to the light in 78
but it is in 79

hood front edge detail, different hood catches, inside 79
/outside 78(and on hood)

fuse box changed 78 tube/79 blade

the 78 gauge bezel fits fine with the 89 pad (using it now)
but i think when i tried the 78 pad, in the 89, with the 89 bezel,
there was a slight gap at the top

Thanks guys
with that trim you can take the clips off carefully that hold the trim on and re use it.. the wheel well trim is screwed on using phillips head screws . It is interchangable you will have to rill holes and rivet on some clips or bolt em on
