Wont lay?

I am bagging a 69 C10 shortbed. I have Belltech spindles, QAR plates and cups. I am running a set of 20's with a 255-35-20. My crossmember is about 4" from the ground.

Do you guys have any suggestions? It seems like the bags are compressed but I may be mistaken. The stock shocks are still connected, I didnt know if that might have something to do with it.

thanks
Brad

Stock length shocks still connected to OE upper/lower mounts are most likely bottoming out & limiting drop. Your front tire height is also still >27" so they're prob going to contact the inner fenders & limit drop as well.

Re: Wont lay?

The inner fenders are out of it? We removed the shocks today still no more drop? I am baffled!!!

I know the cups need to be cut some. But I dont think this will help enough!

He does have longtube headers, that will be coming off soon. However, they are not even close to hitting the ground.

did you do this? I thought guys were cutting out the lower arms to lower the where the bags are mounted as it is. definitely not using big cups. i could be wrong though.

Re: Wont lay?

looks like your bag set up is the culprit. the bags should be way lower into the arms.

Re: Wont lay?

He does have tall cups, but thats not all of the problem. You should be able to lay crossmember with short cups.

Re: Wont lay?

Are you sure the spindles are drop spindles and not stock? You won't pick up much with cutting the cups down since too much and the bag will rub on the arm. Should be close to the top of the rim with what you have (drop spindles/bags)

Re: Wont lay?

Yes they are belltech drop spindles.

I my truck, I ran the same setup and my crossmember/ arms would lay on the ground. he is 3-4" off the ground.

Re: Wont lay?

If you removed the fenderliners and shocks, it has to be the bags. I know some have internal stops, but those don't look to be on the stops yet.

Re: Wont lay?

sounds like the bottom cups are to tall. If you have nothing else hooked up and the headers are not touching the ground then the bags are the only thing left.

Re: Wont lay?

It looks like you can take almost an inch out of that cup, which would amount to 2" of more drop given nothing is binding/hanging you up right now. Like everone's said, that's still not going to get you laying the member though.

I thought in order to lay a member on a 69-72 frame, you need to either cup the LCAs or buy tubulars with a built in drop, but 73+ frames can lay member easier...am I wrong?

Re: Wont lay?

my coil bucket is about an inch or 2 smashed down and im runnng 40series on a 22 and my member is about 1 1/2 from ground so if you have 20s you should be laying crossmember but got to cup your lca otherwise wont have a chance and id get rid of those shocks till you find out what else is stopping you

What kind of bags are you using and what's holding the bag in the upper cup? I don't think I've ever seen a set up like that in this type of truck...they usually have the upper plate.
