Rear Grill?
Im more into custom 50's and 60's cars/trucks and wanted to try my hand at something custom and not done before on my truck....since my rear fenders on my bed were pretty bent from p.o. backing into something and i didnt want to just do a rear roll pan ,i had a vision to do a rear grill like some old show trucks/cars in like in the 50's and 60's, my plan is to make a floating grill like i did in the front of my truck and wanted the same type of grill lines so i decided to use to grills and weld them together and fit them into the opening......this is just a mock up and will be building a enclosure behind the grill that will be painted black that will hold the drawer/door knobs like the front grill so you wont be able to see under the truck thur the grill , i was thinking of running my exhaust at the very ends of the grill then fill the rest in with knobs(no bullets), or might just run the exhaust tips under the grill and fill it in with just knobs..... even tho ill probably do it any ways and i dont like it cut it off ,what do you think yay, or nah??? Plus i know how you guys like to do poll's
and the rest of the blue grill expanded metal will be cut out its just there now for structure......and dont mind the bags of cansin the bed LOL front grill: rear grill:

Re: Rear Grill?
I busted out some cardboard and black and red paint to get a better idea just missing some chrome knobs:

Re: Rear Grill?
theres two grills so it would read " chevoletolet" i was just going to smooth the top bar....unless i got really crazy and made it say "Chevrolet" right in the middle which would be alot of work and the tailgate already says it.... dont know about having two chevrolet logos...

Re: Rear Grill?
Here's my original idea and what i think looks the best is to make two rectangles instead of one long one and have it flat in the middle for the tag to bolt to....
heres the two ends of the grill that are blue that will make the two ends near the tag: and here they are painted : i think this is what ill be shooting for with a recessed panel behind the grill holding the drawer knobs!!

Re: Rear Grill?
Thanks everyone for the replys and voting...I'll post pictures as it gets built, Right now im helping a friend do some home repairs on his house he just bought so might be awhile before i really get at it...I ordered a c-notch(basic notch) and adjustable panhard bar, i think the lower i get the truck in the rear the better it'll look....

Re: Rear Grill?
I like the idea, but wonder if it'd look better with the thicker "bar" on the bottom instead of on top. Just flip it over kind of thing, it almost looks too thick on top for the tailgate to open. another quick idea, I think the mesh grille might look good with some holes cut for some nice styled tips.
