Stock Chevrolet Rim Size
The original rim size on Blazers was 15 in. I have some aftermarket 16 in rims which I'd like to replace with stock Chev rims. I'm undecided as to go with 15 in or 16 in rims. Any opinions on rim size? Seems to be a good selection of tires with either size.
Are there any differences in 15 in or 16 in Chev truck rims such as offset, backspacing, etc. or are they all the same? Should be able to find a good selection at the salvage yards. Thanks! |

Re: Stock Chevrolet Rim Size
The original 16" "optional" wheels are pretty rare. Stock rims were 6" wide. Newer rims have different backspacing and often make the wheel track look too narrow on our old trucks. I believe that the backspace that seems to work is 4". I am sure that there will be many more knowledgeable postings. You also might want to use the search function for other related past discussions.

Re: Stock Chevrolet Rim Size
I didn't find much here using the search function, but did do some more reading and searching. Since I'm wanting to go with the stock steel wheel look, 15 in rims are the best choice.
Is there any difference in the stock rim specs (width, backspacing, etc.)between the 2wd and 4x4s? There must be lots of used 15 in rims available at salvage yards given the sheer number of Chevy 1/2 tons made over the years. |
