62 inner door panel arm rest install
I had to deal with the holes being over sized in both the inner and outer panel. So I found a better way to attach the door rests.
I drilled a hole in the inner panel and installed a 1/4 20 nut zert. It came out so well I was shocked. That inner panel has 12 screws holding it to the door. No way to pull it off. My arm rest came from LMC as they do not sell a 62 rest so I have no idea if the hole spacing for a 62 is the same as a 64. But here are the pics and I have new seals so the door still shuts very hard to full closed location. Not even bit of movement on the panel, the plastic handle is another story, but it is what it is. BTW install a new inner door handle assy from LMC, after about a hour a screwing around with it, I got the stock OEM handle to slide onto the splines. I have to say that there stuff is poorly fitting at best.

That looks like a VW arm rest, interesting. My truck didn't have them and I was going to add them if I could. those look great.

Re: 62 inner door panel arm rest install
Bought them out of LMC ,.. I am no longer fond of there parts.. Just me I guess.. Nothing fits even close, poorly made junk is what I think I bought. But when they is not much to choose from what can you do. The marson nut zert tool is worth its weight in gold. It will allow you to install super clean fasteners where ever you want. I plan on using the 10/32 units in my inner fender wells to hold the wiring into place, my MSD box, fuel line with rubber coated metal clamps along the frame, etc.. It is one cool tool a must have in my opinion.

Re: 62 inner door panel arm rest install
I have only used the marson tool & nuts with good quality crimps. I had another that was a off brand and it was a PIA to use. This one is a one pull deal with outstanding crimp on the nut.
I will post up pics of the engine bay wiring once its routed and installed into place. Sure beats using self tappers or the plastic ties that over time get brittle.

Re: 62 inner door panel arm rest install
Well OEM may be the same but I can tell you what I bought from LMC had .565 wider spacing on the holes. Just a FIY on that. So to use there product you will need to drill new holes, also the spacing is just wide enough that if you use one old hole that the other old hole will just about show where the arm rest is not long enough.

Re: 62 inner door panel arm rest install
I was just looking at the Harbor Freight version and it looks like junk in comparison. For less than $100, yours looks like it's well worth it.
