Brake Line Size - Help

Want to drop in a dual master and split my brake lines. Truck's a 65 c20. Two quick questions.

1) Brake tubing size
2) Will bending pliers suffice to do the job?
3) Any other tips/tricks that I need to know
4) Should I just take it down to the brake shop and have them do it for $150 or so that they estimated (I have the master already).

Thanks in advance.

Re: Brake Line Size - Help

ChiefRocka did a great tech line on this very thing here on the forum.

Very straight forward if you have the tools. He laid everything out for others to do this.

Here you go....

Re: Brake Line Size - Help

I know, been through that thread many times.

I don't have the tools, or at least I need the double flare die at the and something to bend the tubing. Just realized in my post I had more than two questions as well.

Most importantly is brake line size as well as should I bother with it myself or just have someone do it for $150.

Re: Brake Line Size - Help

you can rent a double flare kit at most auto parts store, then you can by a cheap bender for less than $10 my truck i used 1/4" brake line but because of the rear wheel cylinders on the rear axle i had to use an adapter and use 3/8 across the rear axle. or you could run 1/4" into smaller size adapter if you run into that issue. i did mine back in november and it wasnt to bad of a job. just make sure that you have the right master cylinder for what you are doing i took mine back 3 times before ordering one from somewhere because they kept giving me one for power brakes.
