Help with tires

I wanted to get away from tiny replacements so I put some 235/75/15 on, looked great but rubbed like hell and I thought that was the biggest I could go on the truck. I put some spacers in and now the tires clear but the gas milage is horrible and its a DD so, its rides rough and beats the hell outta me for 64 miles a day.

I'm gonna have to take the tires off and the spacers out. What is is the biggest tires I can put up under my 2wd DD?

Re: Help with tires

I have 255/60R17" on my Jimmy. They are 29" tall. Stock height and suspension. The back spacing is 4.5 on the wheels. The front tires hit the frame rails at full steering wheel turn. I had to modify the emergency brake cable bracket on the rear. I ruined one tire cause the Discount Tire tech didn't notice it rubbing when he put it on. Discount replaced the tire for free!! These tires work great with 3.42 gears, 4L60E and 4.3 combo.

Have you corrected the speedometer for the larger diameter tire? You need to add the difference or your milage is really bad.

Re: Help with tires

Its stock rims - 15x7? It will be back to stock height. No sir, I did not correct the speedo. Its a decent lil truck but a DD and I just want a set of tires on there that don't look like they belong on a subcompact.

Re: Help with tires

Use this nifty calculator to find a tire with your measurements. Once you find a tire, add the % difference at the bottom of tire differences.

I assume you don't want to change the wheels.
