'71 Steering Issue...
Hey everyone I have a question that I can't seem to find in the search. I recently took a 4" lift off my truck and went to stock suspension. Not too long after my steering went really loose (scary loose at even 35MPH). Anyway ended up replacing both drag link ends as they were shot. I had also took out the rasied steering arm and putting that back to stock as well. I centered everything back up and turning is even right/left and had the truck aligned.
Now to my question. Why when I turn the steering wheel my front left end rises or drops on which way I turn it? Drag link issue? Is the pitman arm changed out when you put a lift on? Is this normal? Don't recall this happening when the lift was on the truck. Cheers! Last edited by dan04103; 02-08-2012 at 08:33 PM. |

Re: '71 Steering Issue...
Get some body to turn the wheel back and forth while you get under there and look. Look at everything from the rag joint to the TRE's.
Jack up one tire, grab the tire and move it left to right and up and down. Look for play.

Re: '71 Steering Issue...
I'm interested in what you come up with on the steering issues, I'm doing a four inch lift on mine and and would like to avoid any potential problems. Thanks
