Need help with an upper radiator hose
I've read every thread I can about upper radiator hoses but can't find my answer. I'm putting the 383 back in my buddy's 62 and need to find an upper radiator hose.
The radiator outlet is 1 3/4" and is on the driver's side and the thermostat housing is 1 1/2". He's wanting to use a molded hose so he can put the stainless braid over it. Every part number that I have seen on here is only 1 1/2" on both ends. Can anybody help me find a hose? |

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
I honestly don't know. It looks like it is but we don't know much about the history of the truck. I've looked up stock radiator hoses and they are all 1 1/2" which makes me think that his aftermarket. But it still looks factory.

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
The molded hose for the top are getting difficult to find, LMC shows they have it ...? so its a crap shoot, the molded hose fits `64 to `72 sm and BB although the BB uses a 1 3/4 thermostat housing, they do interchange with the small block, bolt pattern is the same. Suggest go to a small parts house locally and see if they have one on there shelf. The alternative is to use a steel rad hose with rubber connectors, that was the factory design in `64 I believe.

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
Good luck. After a week long exhaustive search and some great help from board members, I went with the flex version that has the proper size on each end.

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
We're thinking about going with this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-5922/
The longest they have is 22". The motor is not in the truck yet so I can't measure how long I need. Do you guys think it would be long enough? |

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
I have been using a 22 inch, 1 1/2 inch both ends on my 65 for years now and never had a problem with the thermostat housing leaking. Seems like 50.00 bucks for a radiator hose is a little steep, paid 7.00 dollars for mine at auto zone.

Re: Need help with an upper radiator hose
I'm not worried about the thermostat housing leaking. I'm worried about it fitting on the radiator because it is 1 3/4".
