How Much work would it take to put a 2000 Gm 6.0 in a 67
So I have the opportunity to get a 2000 Chevy 2500 2 wheel drive, the tranny is shot so they say and it has been sitting for like 3-4 years. Ran when parked.
price wanted is 700 bucks So here is the question. What would it take to throw that bad boy in my 67 Chevy? Could i do a nice manual tranny in it that's not going to make it feal like a truck. Or is the best bet an auto. I have always liked manuals better though. If some of you guys can chime in that have already done this it would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help

The swap is going to be pretty involved....the level of "involvement" depends on whether you keep the EFI or swap it over to carb.
If you leave the EFI- you'll need to have the ECM flashed to have a bunch of unneeded settings and protocols removed. It's not terribly expensive, but does require sending in your harness and computer. It's at this point you need to decide what trans to run- 'cause if your going with a 4L60E you'll want whoever is tweakin' your ECM to leave all the stuff that makes your tranny work. If your going TKO or T56 Manual, which are super sweet (non-truck feeling) setups, you can have your "nerd" delete all the trans settings while he/she is in there pokin' around. Also, when running EFI you'll need to upgrade the fuel system with a high pressure electric fuel pump and a way to hookup a return line to your stock gas tank or put in a purpose built fuel cell under the bed. Switching to carb makes the swap a bit easier, but you have the added cost of the carb, manifold, distributor, etc. Regardless of your how the engine is configured, you'll at the very least need a set of conversion motor mounts, a trans x-member, probably some headers, and maybe some minor frame notching to clear accessories. Oh yeah, you'll most likely need to have the driveline shortened too! Bottom line is; this is not an exotic conversion, but does require some research, forethought and a couple grand to get everything needed. Definately not a "weekend" project.....but doable in a week if you don't run into too many snags. If I had the $$ to grab a complete running donor for $700 I'd do this swap in a New York minute.

700$ for a complete running 6.0 is a steal jump on it

check to see if it has iron or aluminum heads. 99 had iron heads so this should be aluminum but I would make sure. Its not a bad swap. Well worth it IMO.

Check The LSx swap FAQ link in my sig. Should give you a pretty good idea of what it takes. $700 for a complete truck is a pretty good deal IMHO.

OK! Thanks for all the info that you guys have given me. Now I have another question, Will an older transmission mount up to it? I have a new process 4 speed with the 4th gear as an overdrive. Will this bolt up to it? Looks similar from photos but It would be nice to know? By the way it is bolted up to my 327 right now.
