Western Chassis Lowering Kit
Hey guys i'm looking at purchasing a Western Chassis lowering kit...I don't like the idea of the minor cutting that seems to be needed in order to go the shackle and hanger route to achieve 4'' of drop in the rear of my 84 SWB therefore i am opting to go with Western Chassis' 4'' drop leaf springs. Are these a simple swap in place of the stock leafs? If not what kind of modifying may I be looking at? As well i am thinking about going with the Western Chassis 2.5'' drop spindles up front, along with a fresh set of suitable shocks...anyone running this setup by any chance?
Thanks in advance

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
Any reason you are stuck on Western Chassis products?
(I think Summit Racing sells their stuff) I assume you will never want to go lower than a 2.5/4 drop? If you think you might,... I would just install a flip kit in the rear.

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
I have this setup.. still waiting on the spindles to arrive though. There seems to be a big backlog of them (manufacturer back order). But, it sounds like they are getting it squared away (undergoing new ownership).
The leaf springs are a direct swap. It is the more pricey route to take, but I opted to go that route, because I just don't like hangers unless I have to use them, and plus the driver side seems to have the dreaded lean because of the stock leaf losing some of it's arch.

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
the leaf springs on my truck right now have been modified or messed with prior to me having the truck so i wouldn't mind swapping out the leafs (instead of running shackles and hangers and having to cut away at any of the bed). For the front am looking for 2-3 inches of drop so their 2.5'' drop spindles seemed to be a good option...which components would you guys run on a 2'' 4'' drop?

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
That is basically the drop I am after.. and will be installing 2.5 spindles and 4" leafs from them. I like the spindles because it does not change your geometry or ride quality.

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
Thanks and yea i agree, i know some people might opt to run just 2'' lowering springs to achieve the same look, but i don't mind spending a couple of extra bucks especially when it comes to my suspension....to each their own. From what i've seen and heard Western Chassis seems to be a reputable brand that produces quality products.

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
I have been very happy with Western dropped spindles. They are made in the USA as well

Re: Western Chassis Lowering Kit
Anyone needing to buy spindles should check out Summit Racing.
They have most all brands, in stock,... ready to ship today. They even stock the CPP brand spindles. You know,...the ones that take 5 days to leave CPP's warehouse. Ha
