welcome from Florida. um....did you say $100? Killer deal if that's right. And killer truck as well. As far as I know 6 lug discs are a new kit you can get from lots of places like LMC, CPP, Ecklers and so on.

Don't GMC's have leave spring rear ends? If so wouldn't a 5 lug rear out of any GM truck up to about 1987 work?

The 60's trucks rear ends were a little shorter than the 67 and up.

For the rear get a set of axle shafts from moser with the 5 lug setup and the drums from a later model. Moser makes axle shafts for our trucks with the 5 lug.

Vieod killed the radio star

The link above is for 5 on 5, but if you needed a different lug pattern, I am sure they could help.

Keep in mind, budget and modifying from stock dont always go hand in hand.

Re: Need advise for my new 1965 gmc truck

If I remember correct, coils were stock on Chevy with leaf springs optional.
GMC were stock with leafs and coils were optional

Re: Need advise for my new 1965 gmc truck

You can upgrade the front end to disc brakes by using the front crossmember from a 1072 - 1987 chevy pickup or a 1972-1991 suburban.....which is what I used on my 66 gmc pickup....91 burb....
the rear axle flanges can be redrilled for 5 lug for not a lot of money which is what I did on mine. be careful, I bought some 5 lug crgars for my truck before I realized that the truck 5 lug wheels are 5 x 5 pattern and the car 5 lug chevy that I had were 5 x 4-3/4, I ended up redrilling the front and rear hubs to accomodate the wheels (I got a really good deal on them and it was cheaper to redrill the hubs than to change the wheels. Go here is you want to see the build and the drilling of the rear axle flanges...... www.kieth.smugmug.com Kieth oh yes go to the 66 gmc gallery.....

Re: Need advise for my new 1965 gmc truck

Hedman #69260's are the headers that are intended for the '63-'66 trucks. You can also use Hedman #69090's, but if you have a manual trans, the clutch bellcrank is a close fit.

As for the 6 lug disc brakes, that is all explained in the link I posted above. You can use the '71-'87 spindles with 6 lug aftermarket rotors.

Re: Need advise for my new 1965 gmc truck

From what I've read 60-62 GMCs had trailing arms and 63-66 had leaf springs.
