xfer case drop
When I installed a 2" lift on the 85 Blazer I noticed a vibration from the rear drive shaft. New u-joints didn't fix the problem so I dropped the case using the spacers that were above the crossmember mount, put them under the frame. All is well, no vibration. Question is I should not have needed to do that with a 2 " lift and 33x12.50 tires. I don't like how it looks. If I were to have the driveshaft balanced and tested would I be able to put the case back to it's original position? I also noticed the ujoint replacement was not easy. Bearing caps were stubborn, I might have a problem there. It's ran 30k miles like this I just am tired of seeing the crossmember hanging down underneath.

Get a cv style rear drive shaft. Then you would be able to remove the spacers. For the rear did you use tapered blocks or new springs? I had a 2" lift on an 85 and the rear block was tapered and I had no vibration problems. Just a thought.

Used tapered blocks. Was your 85 a Blazer, a swb or a lwb?

Check out the links for driveline angles in the 12bolt carnage thread. Thats the method I used when I put new perches on my axle. They didnt come out perfect but, no vibrations. I got it within 2 degrees. I also took my shims out.
PS: swb or lwb Blazer? I thought they were all the same.

Sorry about the wording - a Blazer, or a short wheel base pickup or a long wheelbase pickup. All are different.
Thanks for the replies.
