My 61 FL Apache 10

With inspiration from others, I thought I would start my truck project thread.

To start I traded my 65 C-10 Rat Rod for this truck. It was already in good shape but it needed some touches by me.

Here is the truck the way I got it.

One of the first projects I had to finish was the exhaust. Most of it was done, but it needed the tips. I put on 4" by 24" long tips. I started with a paper mockup to see what I would look like.



I liked the way it looked and then added the stainless tips on there.

The next item on the list was the shifter. That old ratty one had to go..



I made this one with some chain with the links welded together and an 9 ball on the end.



This was the start of the yellow accents to follow.

I started working on the air system for the bags.

Here is the tank installed under the floor which is not there. It sure made this job easy. You can see the compressor there too.



Here is the guage to show the total system pressure.



This pic shows the cut coils that are in there now.



I also installed an adjustable panhard bar. This one is actually from a tractor 3 point hitch. The price was right and it has heim joints on both ends.

Here is the new panhard bar installed. It was nice to have this adjustable. The old one was bent and didnt not have the frame centered properly with the body.

The next major item on the list was to redo the interior of the cab. Here is some of the carnage.

The sanding and filling of hole began here.

Here comes the paint..









Here comes the yellow....

Cant forget this little yellow accent on the back. This is where the yellow accent started.

The back window frame was silver now black to blend in better.

The seat frame also needed to be painted black.

The rest of the cab was painted black.

The yellow and black come together in the interior.







The steering wheel got a new cover.

I started preping the floor for its Hurculiner coating.



All the excessive holes were welded in.

Here is the almost completed interior.







And now the seat is in.

Starting the rear air bag install. Here is the cut coils.

My 50cc steering wheel knob. This came from a scooter that I upgraded to an 80cc. I had to use the old piston for something. This looks like a good place to put it.

Im not sure to thank the PO for removing the floor or cus him. It did give me some easy access to work on the bags and other stuff there. Here the steel going back in.







I also moved my battery to the bed.

On to the next phase of painting. Its time for the roof to get painted.

After my TH350 rebuild, the old tranny didnt have a kick down cable installed. I installed a cable bracket here and got it adjusted.

it is hard to tell just what the yellow is ,I like the color on the last pic in post 13 .. that is the color my truck will be ...

I love your truck...especially the yellow and black. It is looking great and keep up the great job that you are doing to finish it off with your own special touches.
