Which Would Be Louder?

I am looking at putting a new exhaust system on my $100 beater.

Which would be the most obnoxiously loud?

2 1/2" of THIS

or 16" X 2 1/2" of THIS

These would be going in a dual exhaust.

Would there even be any difference in sound?

Re: Which Would Be Louder?

I would guess the first would be quieter to start but gradually get louder. The second will robably start loud and stay there.

Re: Which Would Be Louder?

Probably the 2nd. Especially if you dump it right before the rear axle.

Re: Which Would Be Louder?

It will be turned out after the rear tire. What does crimping the casing (the second one) do?

Re: Which Would Be Louder?

I your desire is just obnoxiously loud, why run any muffler at all? Just run a 2" strait pipe out to the tailgate. Sounds terrible but it is crazy loud.

Re: Which Would Be Louder?

Years ago I made a set of muffler out of a driveshaft.Cut the lenght you want cap the ends and pt the size of pipe you want out both ends.Leave the inside empty. They sound good out the back.Tony

The SHORTER the muffler/Glass Pack the LOUDER!! The LONGER the muffler/Glass Pack the QUIETER and lower the tone.
