Door alignment after new door seals off?

After putting new door seals both sides on my truck, the doors want to stickout about a quarter inch. i have to really slam them to get them to shut though. Did this happen to anyone else? Also, will they break in over time and use?

some door seal are better than others, the ones from lmc and some other companys arent very good and take awhile to soften up and break in. I think there is a guy on the site here who sells them and ive heard there pretty good. i put new ones on reajusted my door and the driver side wasnt bad after a year but the pass was still tight

GMCPaul sells press-on style door seals. They are the BEST, hands down: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=438649

Whatever seals you use, they will need to break in over time.

heating up the door seals with a hair dryer or VERY CAREFULLY with a heat gun can help somewhat im making them give a bit to aid the problem it is especially helpfull in the frigid winter weather

Re: Door alignment after new door seals off?

I used cheap glue-ons from a local shop that made me slam my doors. After about 6 months there starting to get worked in. I'm hoping they will get better when the temp outside gets warmer.

If you're not adverse to silicon spray, get a can of it, spray a little on a rag and carefully wipe the gasket with it. It doesn't soften the gasket, but will allow it to slide against the door a little easier until the weather seal takes a set.

Re: Door alignment after new door seals off?

this is a bad time of year to do that because of the cold weather, most companies will tell you to put seals on close doors and leave them in the hot sun for 3 to 4 days, but that don't work, how do i know i tried this , my door seals came from brothers, like probably everybody else's did , made in china. The best ones i've used is softseal there worth the money.but be prepared to pay 3x for them. If you pay attention to gm seals most of them had vent holes in them, that's why the worked. did this to my first set of china made seals and it helped .
