bought this off craigslist for 600
custom c/10

no motor
no trans

gotta love the paint job lol !

shortbed stepper
12 bolt
5 lug
front disc

needs complete floor, cab corners and rockers. which i was expecting trying to buy one around this part of the states.

craigslist pics
yes, he does have pre67 stepside rear fenders on it....lol !

pics i took today.

this is probably heading to the scrapper....it's toast !
but the front bed panel is good, i'll keep that.

engine and trans is the last thing on my mind. which it doesn't have anyway.

the good thing is that it has no rust in the upper half of the cab.

i plan to buy a whole new fleet bed. and possibly modify this nos 99-07 gm shortbed floor to work with the 72 bedsides and other panels.

That bed doesn't look that bad, unless the pic isn't showing some real rot. You sure it can't be saved?

all the xmembers are rotted beyond repair.
bedsides might be worth saving and selling. i am more of a fleetside fan.

i figured the swb chassis, disc brakes and 12 bolt was worth the 600 i spent.
the whole front of the frame from the back of the cab forward is coated in grease and oil, so it has actually protected it.
the rear half of the frame itself is very good shape, all of the rear crossmembers are rusted pretty good but i will be replacing them with Porterbuilt xmembers anyway.

Re: did i do ok ?

I'm just south of Indy and would gladly drive up to Lafayette one evening this week to get a free step bed. I'd hate to see it get tossed.

PM me and let's see if we can make it happen

Looks like a good start to me. If you need parts, a good guy named Todd who lives just south of Terre Haute, has a lot of parts. He lists them in the parts section- just a little tip.

Re: did i do ok ?

I guess I will quit calling on this one. I just noticed that his price dropped yesterday so I have tried calling a couple times. When I first seen it listed it was over $1000.00 and I just did not look hard. I think you did real good. Like I told you before the truck would scrap for close to that so they just do not get much cheaper. Did you also get the other truck up by you that you said you going after Friday?

P.S. Thanks 72 Tigger for the good words

Re: did i do ok ?

There's also a guy on Indy c-list that has a short fleet bed for sale $750 (bed only, not whole truck). Not sure if it's sold yet.

didn't get the other truck.
i have a buddy here locally that is doing a 67 small window and doesn't like the small window cab (plus it's rusted really bad). so me and him might buy the other one and split the parts off it.

i hauled the 72 home friday evening in that snow that turned the roads to ice, THAT was fun !
plus with a slammed truck doing the towing...lol !

If you mean the one in Mooresville it is still available. I just picked up a 72 SWB chassis from him yesterday and took a few pictures of the bed. It was in a dark garage so I could not check it out great but it looked like a nice bed. Higher than I wanted to pay. A couple weeks ago I picked up the tailgate and 68 doghouse he had for sale also.

Re: did i do ok ?

I forgot to say but I actually picked up the chassis after meeting up with 72 Tigger.

Yes the road got bad Friday night but I was lucky and they were clear before I headed to Indy Saturday. Glad the trip went good.

Sorry for the hijack,... but what's the drop specs on your crew cab.
(and the tire size,... if you don't mind).

McGaughys
2" spindles
2" coils
6" rear flip kit
bolt in notch
helper bags

tires are 255/50r20 but i would suggest a 275/45r20 or a 255/45r20
