1972 seat belt decode help!

OK, I'm being way too picky on this, but I'm trying to get a close build date for my truck. Seat belts are 6A72. I understand that the first digit(s) are the week of the year the belts were made. I looked at a 1972 calendar and Jan. 1 was on a Saturday. Would that one day count as week #1, or would week #1 be the first full work week, which would have been Jan, 2-8?

Good question. I'd guess first full week.

As long as you're early and not late, you're good, right?

Re: 1972 seat belt decode help!

If it is similar to a casting code it would be jan 6th of 72. However, i am not sure if belts follow the same deal...

Interesting thread. Never heard of this before.

For what it's worth, in my 72 a couple have 18-H-72 and a couple have 20-H-72

I can only offer my opinion. Since Jan 1st was on Saturday and a holiday weekend I would think the first week of production in '72 would begin with Jan 2nd.
