engine install
Hi,
I'm new to the board, and was looking for some info on installing a refurbished 350 engine into my 1970 Chevy c/20 pickup. I was wondering if anyone knows of a page of someone already doing a similar install and had some good notes on it. thanks, vince. |

Vince,
Welcome! I'm not sure if I understand the question. You don't have a small block V8 now I assume? Brian |

welcome from Kansas. Engine swaps are a piece of cake. Just pull the old one out, taking note of where everything goes, and slap the new one in.
If you have specific questions, don't be afraid to ask, there is a lot of knowledge here. David

Welcome to the Board!
It should be straightforward to drop the 350 into your truck. Your best bet is to do it and address any specific questions you run across 1 at a time. IMHO

Welcome to the board.
Any way you do it, it'll be fairly easy...the problems come in when you are going from an inline to a small block. Let us know some more details, and we can give you every tidbit of info you may need. |

Hello,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm hoping to start the install this weekend. I'm pulling out the original 307, but relatively new (only 18,000 original miles on it) motor and don't know exactly what to do with it. It was running as of last week alright when my buddy and I got it started. It sounded alright, so there's still some life in this motor. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what a good use for this thing would be rather than just sit on the floor of my garage taking up space. Thanks again, and I'll be sure to let you all know how the install goes this weekend. thanks, vince. |

Welcome to the board from Washington State.........
You might sell it for a rebuildable core, or let someone hear it run.............. Maybe you could enlist some friends to help with the swap.

18,000 original miles??? If that were my truck, that engine would stay right where it is. Should be a whole lot-a-life left in that one.
Wanna deliver it to Pa? I've got a truck that would be happy to have it.

When I pulled my 307 to swap in a big block I started asking friends if they new of anyone who needed a running engine - turned out one of the guys who has helped me with thet truck and machining some stuff had a friend who just had an engine go out - so I gave it to him. Made me feel good and my buddy who has helped me was sure pleased.
Oh, welcome to the board!
