brake line frustration!!

I went to bleed the brakes tonight and have all sorts of problems. The PO put all new wheel cyl in. The bleeders are so close to the spindle I cant get a wrench on em, I have to use a socket on the front and they are 10mm??? did he buy some cheap wheel cyl?

Also have all new steel brake lines from In line tube. Almost every fitting was leaking. Ive had to (What I feel) is Over tighten every fitting to stop them all (Hopefully) In the meantime having a hell of a time trying to bleed these brakes!

On the wheel cylinders , there a mix and match depending brand. The fittings leaks tighten Vs over tighten can spit / crack the flare and that's not good.Have you checked the flare to be flat, nicked,or not round ?

Re: brake line frustration!!

while dealing with brake lines and fittings on a daily basis i have found that patience and a clean work environment really helps, be sure that all lines going in are not tweaked at all, otherwise the line will not be flush even though the fitting is tight. I agree that having a metric part on my AMERICAN truck is BULL! but there is not much we can do about that. I fought it all i could and the outcome is me still having 10mm bleeder valves

Re: brake line frustration!!

I got it. A fresh look after a short break and I decided a different method of bleeded and some patience was in order. Seems good now. No more drips (fingers crossed) for now.

Re: brake line frustration!!

I replaced the wheel cyl on my project truck. One in the rear has a extended bleeder on it. I could get a pic if you want. Surely they sell them some place like NAPA.
