scrapyard pickin

ok so i got bored today and went running around to all the local scrapyards thought i would post up what little bit i was able to find. It seemed what little i did find the 67-72 stuff was in better shape as far as completness i didnt see a straight body panel all day and nothing that i could live without but i did pick up a rear slider for my truck.

Re: scrapyard pickin

I always get a bit sad seeing vehicles in that condition. There are some good parts in there though.

Re: scrapyard pickin

i got my rear slider out of the green 64 and unless your looking for knobs and gauge clusters and all the little stuff there aint really much left of any of the 60-66s i wanted to pull the e brake stuff out of all of them and try to sell it myself but thought it would be way much more trouble than worth.

Re: scrapyard pickin

What always gets me about scrap yards is how disorganized they are and how they make most of the parts completely inaccessible by the way they place vehicles. So far only one yard I have been to takes the time to place vehicles in a way that you can get to 95% of the parts

Sad to think somebody probably loved a couple of those trucks when they were new.

That black 60-63 looks like it has a good tail gate.

Re: scrapyard pickin

The real $hitter is that with scrap at $220 or better, these ol' rigs don't lay around fer long before the Grim Reaper lays them on the rack an' pulls the lever.....and a couple belches of smoke later......an she's headed for the Oriental Melt Shop's next " Heat " .....Radio Delete Plate an all......only to be barged back home to an American rolling mill or worst yet as a full grown ' Daihatsu ".....

Be brave you fellers.....It's a sad paragraph I jes' penned.....an I new it when I wrote it.....but you all are preservin' em' for the generations to follow...

So keep doin' it.

Obviously, moving that pile of dirt was more important than the truck it's under. Idiots

I would think what's worth the trouble is the trim.
Isn't that something guys around are always looking for?

Re: scrapyard pickin

I would like to have that tailgate, bumper and some of the front trim for my '65. Are they reasonable on price? Can you pull it and ship it to me in KY.
