corp 12 rear: how much play is to much?
I have a gm corp 12 rear end in my 1972 k10 and have about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch play when I grab and turn the yoke. My question is how much play is to much? I have be told 1/8th inch is correct and as high as 1 inch correct. Thanks for any info

You're probably getting some wear on your axle splines and side gears, that's why you have so much, but move it back and forth real slowly and you can tell where your ring and pinion backlash is, and then anything beyond that is wear on other components. That's actually quite a lot of play unless you have a genuine detroit locker, then it's normal. but if you have a normal open diff, it's just showing it's age.
