replacing coils with bags on the FRONT!

Well I have completed the rear suspension of my '66 SBBW and its time to move to the front. I replaced the coils out back with airlift 2600's and I am thinking about doing the same up front. I dont want to do a dropmember or anything like that, just a replacement for adjustability. Are there any good threads already covering this subject that I may have missed while searching the site? If not can I get some good information on the swap. Oh, and pictures would be GREAT!!! Again, Im not doing a dropmember, just a basic swap that will ride nice and give some adjustability.

Thanks
Brandon

Re: replacing coils with bags on the FRONT!

I did a very very low buck bag install in the front of my 65. I use the typical bag mounting plates on the top and nothing on the bottom. The bottom I just used the center bolt and a very large flat washer to keep the bag in place. It fit perfectly in the spring pocket. If I was to do it again, I would use a small spacer in the bottom just so the bag didnt touch anything. I ran that way for a year till I sold it and never had an issue. Here is are some pics of the install.

This is how low it was. The front crossmember was less than an inch from the ground and nothing dragged the ground.

Hope that helps!!

Did you have a compressor and tank or just fill yourself with a airhose every time? What did you do in the back apache?

The rear had a notch in the frame and the bags were halfway up the trailing arms.

Re: replacing coils with bags on the FRONT!

The rear was done when I got the truck, I did the front bag installs. I pieced it together and bought the plates from a friend and had the other stuff laying around.

The big mistake I made was not to separate left from right. They were T'd together. Lesson learned.
