'71 C10 shorty stepside
Hey guys, I'm Derek. I've always wanted a 67-72 C10 because my old man had one when I was growing up. I have a special affliction for the swb fleetsides. Well I got out of the military recently and decided it was time to finally get one. I picked up this '71 C10 stepside with a wood bed, tired 350/th350, 12 bolt rear. It needs a cab corner on the driver side and some rust around the drip rails but nothing too major. I'm so excited to finally get started on my own C10. I bought a 402 last week to go in it, probably get around to the swap in the next few weeks, still gathering parts from summit for it. It has 292 heads, fresh valves, roller rockers, xe274 cam, and some other goodies. The interior is in pretty decent shape, some pitting on the floors but they're still in one piece. Should be a fun resto project. It'll get some Boss 338's after the body work is done this summer. In the meantime, I'll be focusing on the driveline, rebuilding the tranny with around a 3000 stall, eaton posi and a set of 4.56's. This is by no means my daily, just a weekend cruiser and a few passes a year at the strip.
On a side note, if anyone is in the Houston/Galveston TX area, I'm looking to trade my stepside bed for a decent shape fleetside short-wide. It has a dent in the driver side rear fender, minor rust, wood floor, and the tail lights are frenched into the fenders.
