help ID my inline 6

Well, I've been trying to install headers for 250 CI engine on my 65 c10. They just don't fit.
At this point I have cut the motor mount support out and The headers still won't fit. So I'm wondering just what size engine I have? I was told by previous owner that it is a 250 CI. So I have looked online to see if I can figure out what it is but, can't find my engine numbers on any of the lists. Help!
The engine looks like a 250 or 230? The motor mounts are in the center of the block and the fuel pump is at the right front. But I'm just not sure.

Block casting number is, 8877178G
The number behind distributor is, F0126FM If anyone knows how to ID my engine I'll order the correct headers.
THANKS!

Re: help ID my inline 6

thats the same casting that is on mine and it is a pretty vague number and it is a 3877178= 1962-1978 either a 230 or 250 buick, olds, pontiac, chevrolet, or gmc
I was told that the only way to tell the difference in the 2 is the stroke. I have yet to pull mine apart and measure the stroke on it to know for sure what it is but i am assuming being that it is a 65 like mine that you prob have a 250

Re: help ID my inline 6

I found this page a while back and thought it might be useful in the future. It looks like your engine is a 230 from a '65 passenger car.

Re: help ID my inline 6

All the info is good stuff, but..... Ther could be a few reasons your headers arent fitting: 1) The headers could be for a passenger car or wrong model truck (year, model, etc...), 2) Headers are for a 292 or 3) All of the above.
Where did you get the headers and do you know the applications for them?
Oh ya,....pics would help also if you can.

Welcome to the board....a lot of experience here!
