700r4
how well would a 700r4 from an 85 caprice hold up if transplanted into a truck...it has a 305 on it now and my truck has a 305 as well....any opinions i have the option to get this car for free and it has a year old crate 305 in it ....i was thinking that it might get be my until i can get the money to get a better motor and a better/built 700......

The 85 is the older style...which is both good and bad. i think that should have the mechanical driven speedo...but it is weaker though.
Considering the fact you have a 305, and your truck probably weighs the same...if not lighter than the donor car...you may be OK on this. Make sure to set it up properly...lots of labor thrown in the crapper if you fudge the install and it scatters all over the road in 2500 miles. (I'd have a pro set it up...and I'm a cheap bastard) |

it should hold up well if you use the overdrive sparingly, when in town keep it in third, only use overdrive if you are on the highway, the overdrive servo is always the first thing to go
