454 questions

I recently bought my first classic truck. It is a 67 swb that had the original engine replaced with a 454. I have a few questions about the engine.

1. What vehicle did this engine come from? The number stamped into the top of the engine block is CG3300333. I've tried to research this number but haven't been able to find anything.

2. I want to add an a/c compressor. What do i need to do to install a compressor? The engine currently has a long water pump installed on it. Below are some pics to see the current set up.

Any information would be greatly appricaited.

Re: 454 questions

Get the casting number off the block. It's right behind the drivers side head. Then look on this list.

Re: 454 questions

There should be a suffix code stamped on the engine pad under the alternator. If you can find it and read it, then looking up the code will give you the vehicle the engine was original installed in.
