Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
Looks like an S10 trans because of the shifter location, the camaro is further back.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
I don't think that's a T5 out of a '92 Camaro. It looks like it's a little later model, '93-'97 and if it's a 5 speed, it would have been behind a V6.
Sorry I don't know enough about these to be anymore help.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
Again, I don't know much about this series trans. Google is your friend. I do know that the T5 trans that came in the 3rd Gen Camaros were never offered behind a 350 because Tremec would not warranty them for GM because the 350 put out too much torque. You could only get them on 305 or V6 engines.
As it is, the Camaro trans typically puts the shifter too far back for a truck with a bench seat. That's why many will take a Camaro T5 and with some mods, put a S10 T5 tail housing on, which places the shifter more forward. Before you get too far into this, do A LOT of research. I put a Jeep AX15 5 speed into my '65, using a Novak adapter plate. The AX15 is stronger than the GM T5 and that's why I did it. So far very happy with it. I did a ton of research (like a year worth) before I finally did it.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
Is the getrag the first time the bell/main case were one unit like this one? Isn't getrag the same thing that came in minicoopers??? But those wer 6 speeds, same company anyway I guess. It's certainly not a 93 or earlier S10 T5. Doesn't look like a T5 from ANYthing, but I am not positive about the later ones. I have a 93 in my truck - so, it's possible it's the getrag that Dion mentions, but beyond that, not a clue. Regardless, I would NOT want to try to install that monkey in my truck - would require removal of the bell to frame dog ears/crossmember and a rear trans mount for starters. Unless you install it on the engine when it's removed and stab the whole thing in at once. Pain to work on though. I'd punt.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
That looks to me like a NV3500 from a '88-'98 C10. I believe these are rated at 300ftlbs of torque, so technically they won't hold up behind a 350. However GM did put a few behind the '96-'99 Vortec 350's which produce 330 ftlbs of torque. It will depend a lot on how you drive. Also be aware that these transmissions have only electronic speedo outputs.

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
OK thanks for all the input it was hooked to a 350 which the guy called a 355 i traded a 454 block and heads for the 350 and this tranny it was all bolted together and i took it a part and it has a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing i think i will pass on using it and just use my saginaw 3 speed till i get a 4 speed! I dont think it will hold up behind a 350 well, also i rebuilding a 283 for my truck but it will push almost 300hp i will just look for another 5 speed tranny down the line might sell this one lol if i can sell it! Yes i did notice the speedo was electroninc but i heard u can change them over just here say!

Re: 1966 installing 5 speed
That trans would be just fine behind a 283. I doubt it would be making 300ftlbs of torque.
