Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

Friend of mine has had this for a couple years now. He found it and traded a set of 20" wheels for it. I knew it was really bad shape, and it was worse then I expected. But got it off him for whats its probably worth in scrap, which is where most of it is headed.

Cab is junk, like has no drivers side floor cause its so rusty. Sad cause its a small window cab. Front clip is junk except grille is perfect. Torn on what to do with bed. Bed floor is rusty at back, bed sides have a couple cans worth of bondo on them. I'm a longbed man myself. Are shorty beds that hard to come buy in decent shape? Opinions ?

Selling what ever is good to break even and keeping frame for sure. Plan is to find a donor truck for cab and front clip eventually and swap drive train out of sqaurebody probably.

Has a 327 that looks all original. th350 and a NP203. Someone put a newer 10 bolt with disc brakes up front already. Spid is plane jane, they ordered it with oil bath air cleaner, which is long gone of course, but pretty neat.

Looks sweet in pics, but all the bondo is like the ugly ass lady with tons of makeup on.

If you deside to part it , I need grill hoops. Shiny ones. And fender badges.

Is it an original V8 or I6? There were only 1,046 SWB K/10 6cyls built. I can never find the info on V8s. They sell complete floor pans and bed floors. Look for frame rust at the front spring mount under the bed.

When I looked it up, the info looks to me like there was only 1046 shortbed fleetsides built and 1229 with a stepside bed.

I like it, cool find! Now is it really a 67 shorty 4x4 or has someone been playing with torches

Re: Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

Frame still has paint on it and looks very solid compared to rest of truck. Have found lts of the original green everywhere on cab and seat is still green underneath the black cover so i know cab is original and spid matches. Ill get a pic of spid this afternoon.

Re: Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

Jesse's right. I didn't specify,but that's what I meant since yours is a Fleetside. I don't know how many 115"wb KE10s were built.either Stepside or Fleetsides.

Re: Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

Great start!! I got lucky this weekend and pickup my 71 Chevy SWB 4 x 4 project. Body was terminal, but great frame and running gear. Mine, like yours had an oil bath breather on the SPID.

Nice find! check and make sure all the numbers match, K_Title, Vin plate/Spid and frame. If they do, great score! You can pick up New/OE/NOS parts to rebuild. I believe that one set of springs, F or R are odd lenghts, different from 69-72. If you lift it, You can have them custom made.

Re: Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

Would have been a straight 6 truck originally, no option for engine on spid, just 4 speed trans.

D.PASSMORE----You are probably right. My buddy said he looked everywhere and never could find a lift kit for it. Its probably the rears. There is only two leaves on them and they look long as hell.

This is why cab is going to scrap tomorrow.....

Heres a terrible pic of the spid. Door jam vin matches glove box.

Re: Brought home a 67 shorty 4x4

It's a V8 truck,so a 283 was standard. V8 VINs start as KE1 and I6s start as KS1
