My Scale RC 4x4 Bowtie's

Hi guys, this is one of my hobbies that I really get carried away with anymore.

I like to build RC trucks that look like, well, real 1:1 Trucks and K5 Blazers I'm not the best builder, but I try to get them close. Most are scratch built and some are modified bodies that I find. These are all 1\10th or 1\12th scale, depending on who you ask..

See what you guys think. And if you have any questions I will try to answer them.

On some of my early trucks, I used the aluminum "U" channel from Menards, and then I started buying Tamiya Bruiser chassis off of ebay or Axials SCX10 chassis, but now I just buy the square 1/2 inch iron tube from menards, then heat and bend and then slice it down the middle, longways.

Generally anymore, since I really don't rock crawl them too much, I use a plain and cheap silvercan motor.

I do have videos of all of them plus lots more..

Outstanding work, are most of your modified bodys baised on Tamiya kits (Clodbuster, Lunchbox, etc.)? Makes me want to do something with an old Blackfoot I have kicking around. Would you be willing to show us some chassis pics or show us some details of your next build? It would be awesome to get someone who does resin models to do larger R/C size bodies (like a 67 chevy)!

Yes, I use the Tamiya Clod Buster as a base for my Blazers and Chevy Crewcabs..The Van is actually the grill and front fenders from the clod also.

I don't mind showing pics of details of builds, as long as know one else cares. I am in the middle of a build now, would you like me to show the build thread in this "scale" part of the forum ??

Please excuse the Ford, but this is my Blackfoot.



This is the chassis for the 75 Blazer I'm building. Its not exact, but more of, what I need to make everything else work, shocks, axles, leaf springs, etc..





This is what I pick up on ebay..only problem is, they are 30 plus years old, and collectible, so its hard to chop them up sometimes..

These, I bought from RC4WD, but I usually use Tamiya'a highlift ot TLT axles..(Tamiya axles are a little less expensive)



And before I forget, I use sheets of styrene plastic to build my bodies. There was a gentleman in Coloado who just did some resin casting of a 41 Dodge, but it seems to be a little expensive and too much work for me...


This was the 64 Crewcab in the beginning, (and, I cannot find the thread over here, of the 64 I used as a basis for this build)

Ok, lets try this,

This is the truck that really started things, years ago, there were others, but they keep bringing this one back. This one is 2nd generation, after Chevrolet took away the licensing from it..

Alot of them were made into flip front monster trucks, with a Hemi under the hood..This one came from Oregon.

I believe there are still clubs that run an actual mini monster truck jam, but I mostly want the bodies.

Its MOA or "motor on axle"





Alot of my trucks use a 3 speed transmission, and this is what they look like.

This one is from a Tamiya Big Rig Semi truck..Night Hauler I think..There is a different one, but the internals are the same.









This is probably one of my favorite trucks, I found this on the internet in 09 and have been in love ever since.



Thats why I built this one.



But it has changed through the last couple years. I even took it to the Grand Canyon last year.





After this video, and all of the other abuse it gets, I had to rebuild it, it cracked the body really good.

Those are SWEET! I have an Axial Scorpion with a Pro-Line Blazer body that has a little bit of a scale look, not nearly on that level though.

Hey, a fellow RC'er, YAY, Thank you very much for the comment.

Its looks great to me, and just so ya know, I love em all, and its all about fun.

I'm a 52 year old kid with a decent paying job finally these last 12 years, I have no life sometimes, with lots of time on my hands, so, I became addicted to buying, building and driving and making youtube videos of this darn addiction, so I try hard to make it look as real as I can get. (and I babble sometimes )
